How LB6V Works

Unlike most vaccines that fight pathogens after they enter your body, LB6V uses a unique transmission-blocking strategy: it stops Borrelia bacteria inside the tick.

1

Vaccination

LB6V introduces six versions of the OspA protein to your immune system, prompting it to make targeted antibodies.

2

Tick bite

If an infected tick bites you, it begins to feed on your blood. Borrelia bacteria inside the tick express OspA.

3

Antibody transfer

Your OspA antibodies are ingested by the tick along with the blood meal.

4

Bacteria neutralized

Antibodies bind OspA on Borrelia inside the tick — stopping the bacteria before they ever enter your body.

Why this matters

Because LB6V neutralizes the bacteria before they ever reach the human bloodstream, there is no infection to fight off afterward. This strategy also reduces the chance of long-term complications associated with delayed treatment.
